What is an H-1B Visa?

The H-1B Visa is one of the most popular work visas in the United States. These visas are capped at 65,000 per year, plus an additional 20,000 for individuals with master’s degree. About 275,000 individual petitioners registered to file H-1B visa petitions for fiscal year 2021!

H-1B visas are reserved for individuals who will either perform services in a specialty occupation, provide services to Department of Defense, or work as a fashion model of distinguished merit. In essence, the H-1B Visas are for professionals and only given to those who can fill a “specialty occupation” for an established period.

The Law defines a specialty occupation as an occupation that demands a bachelor’s (or higher) degree in the specific field or the necessary amount of acquired experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

Specialty occupations include, but are not limited to:

  • Marketing analysts
